Announce

The Journées d’Informatique Théâtrale (JIT) were established in 2020 as a meeting place for computer scientists and theater artists, following the example of the Journées d’Informatique Musicale (JIM), where musicians and computer scientists have been meeting for thirty years to establish the new discipline of computer music.

At the intersection of computer science and theatre studies, the field of computer theatre explores the study and development of new forms of theatrical creation and dissemination within digital spaces.

Now in its 4th edition, the Computer Theatre Conference brings together a community  of artists and researchers to present new findings; share ongoing experiments; highlight  emerging research, and examine the evolution of digital technologies in theatre — particularly in immersion, interactivity, artificial intelligence, and robotics, among other domains.

This fourth edtion will take place at Paris 8 University in Saint-Denis, north suburb of Paris, october 7-9, 2026. It is coorganized by the digital art team Images Numériques et Réalité Virtuelle (INREV - https://inrev.univ-paris8.fr/) of the research lab Arts des Images - Art Contemporain and  performing art research lab Scènes du Monde (https://scenes-monde.univ-paris8.fr/), of Paris 8 University. The event is steered by the Association Francophone d’Informatique Théâtrale (AFIT) and supported by Inria and Grenoble Alpes University.

The proceedings of the three previous editions are available in open access https://inria.hal.science/JIT
